Arrrrgh!

Something about the one-eye and striped shirt that makes Jacob look particularly piratey in this picture. That's what happens when you have big cheeks!

Boy's Best Friend

Jacob is a very "wet" baby. If I put him on his belly, he almost always pukes. Rusty is waiting around to clean it up.

The Jacob Swordfighting Show

And Adam too. . .

If you laughed as hard as I did when I made this, you MUST leave a comment!

Put down the weapon

So today as I was changing Jacob's diaper and getting him ready for a bath, he found a water gun Adam had left on the floor. All I have to say is that BOYS COME THAT WAY--they love guns and swords, no teaching necessary.
I love this pic because you can see HOW FAT this baby is. 20 pounds at 6 months!

The Big Day

Today we went to court and finalized Jacob's adoption. We were joined by Sam's parents, and his brother-in-law Thomas. We were grateful to have them all there. This is us as we waited to go into the courtroom. It was an early morning for all of us!
Our new family--finally legal!
My two cute boys. They are different as night and day, and each adores the other. One of the best parts of being a mom is watching your kids love each other.

No problem!

This was among the "lost" photos--taken back in January. Cute little guy!

Duck baby

This boy loves his bath, he kicks and splashes up a storm. I've received several cute hoodie towels, but I think the duck is my favorite!

Exersaucer Fun!

My sister Rachelle lent us her exersaucer, and it's been EXACTLY what we needed! Jacob loves it!!! It didn't take long for him to figure out how to work all the little activities. At first his legs were too short and he just hung in the seat. But now his feet reach the bottom and he can turn himself around.

Cammo Baby

For Christmas Jacob's birthfather, Isaac, gave him the cutest cammo outfit ever! I just realized I had "lost" these pictures and went digging around on all our memory cards to find them. There's no worries that we'll lose this baby in the woods--he's too cute!

Slightly tired

Jacob has figured out how to bounce in his Johnny Jumper and he LOVES IT! He can entertain himself for quite a while, especially if I'm nearby doing something and he can see me. The other day I was on the computer and looked over to see this: He did it again today, and even funnier, I hear "snore". . . bounce. . . bounce. . . still sound asleep!

Where's the baby?

So, the other day I put Jacob in his swing and went down the hall to do something. I heard him squawking in there, mad to be left by himself. After a minute it got quiet (which always makes a mom nervous) so I went to check on him. He was not in the swing. In a panic, I looked to the high chair--had Sam moved him? I looked around the room--had Adam picked him up? Then I heard baby sounds near my feet. Here is what I saw:

Without a bonk or a cry, he had wiggled himself out of the swing and onto the floor. How he did this, I have no idea. But he was happy as can be, chillin' under the swing! BTW--he does not always look like a deer in the headlights, it's his response to the flash on the camera.

Visit from Savanna

I finally asked Savanna, Jacob's birthmom, if she minded if I posted pictures of her. She was totally fine with it, so here she is with Jacob. I know she thinks Jacob looks like his birthfather, but I see tons of resemblance to her. She's been able to visit almost every month since Jacob was born, so she gets to watch him grow and change. I get so lazy about sending her pictures and reports because what's that compared to the real thing?! Adam, as usually, did not want to be left out. Especially since Jacob was involved!

My life is a game show

Sam thinks I'm crazy when I talk about this, so I offer it up to my friends and family. I hope this type of thinking will infiltrate your brain and make you laugh!

So, sometimes I feel like I'm on a game show. This particular game show is inspired by Name That Tune.

Scene--3 contestants, all women. One announcer, let's call him Sam (don't tell him I told you, but I think Sam secretly wishes he could be the voice over for movie trailers. Or that someone would pay him to read books on tape where all the characters have different accents. I digress. . .).

A table in the center of the stage.

A lovely, under-dressed woman brings out the first challenge: an adorable 6 month old baby boy (named Jacob) wearing just a diaper.

Contestant #1: Well Sam, I think I can change that diaper with 5 wipes.
Contestant #2: I pass.
Contestant #3: I can change that diaper with 4 wipes!

(Dramatic music)

Announcer: Okay, before we proceed, we're going to open the diaper. Let's take a look! (I won't describe it here, too gross for most people).

Contestant #2: I'm going to hold--I can do it with 4 wipes.
Contestant #1: I'm a little nervous, but I think I can do it with 3 wipes.
Contestant #2: CHANGE THAT DIAPER!

Announcer: Can she do it? Let's see folks! Wow, look at her go--using the front of the diaper to wipe that baby virtually clean. Now one wipe has been used. Now two--and the baby is clean! Judges, can you verify for us? Yes folks, she has changed the diaper in just 2 wipes. She wins $500 for making her bid, and an additional $500 for using even less wipes.

Thanks for tuning in, and we'll see you in a few hours for CHANGE THAT DIAPER!
