Rules of the Fort

No babies allowed
No beer allowed
Come in six and down
The end

(Note, the "no babies" rule was repealed, allowing Jacob to come in. That's why it was crossed off in yellow.)

Flower Child and Princess

Sam and I laugh because Jacob often walks in with a string of beads around his neck. It's an effect of babysitting girls, I have collected some dress ups. We refer to him as our "flower child."

So the other day Jacob came to me with a headband on his head. Literally, on his head. Our little princess!

Shoes

Jacob's new favorite past time is wearing other people's shoes around the house.
I don't think there's anything quite as funny and cute as his feet in Sam's size 11 shoes!

Family Snow Adventure

Jacob was so excited to wear the snow pants, he ran all over the house!
And here is Adam, ready for the hills.
Sam and I took turns staying with Jacob while the other sledded down with Adam. Jacob did take a few rides as well.

Brothers and Blankets

This is a self-portrait taken by Adam on a cell phone:

When Adam was Jacob's age I made him a duvet cover. As I sewed the squares together, he became very attached. In the end, I had to cut off the back and just give it to him as his special "blue blankie." As it got dragged all over, I decided to cut it in half. Well, we lost one half. Then I sewed some leftover pieces together. We lost the second half. Eventually we lost the spare. Now Adam has adopted MY blanket made by MY mom when I was a child--ironically it was made from the same material. I had a 20 year old box of scraps, which I pieced together to make Adam's original Blue Blankie.

We spent a Sunday afternoon at Sam's mom's house, and Jacob fell in love with a blanket that she had made for her children when they were little. It's white and soft and silky. Well, he watches his brother closely, and now understands that HE must carry his blankie around the house, cuddle with it, etc. So here are the boys in front of the fire, with their blankets.

If Jacob was a dog . . .

If Jacob was a dog, he would be Rusty. These pictures were taken under different desks at the same time.

Snow Day

I apologize for not posting more, I finally got some photos downloaded from my camera! Here are some of the kids playing in some fresh snow.

Sam commented about how fun it was to see mini-versions of Adam. Avery, Brynlee, and Jacob are all dressed in his old snow clothes!
Jacob was IN HEAVEN being able to go outside. He toodled around the cul-de-sac with all the kids out playing in the snow.
My favorite was that he would only walk where it was shoveled, and most places weren't. So he took the path of least resistance by walking in the tire tracks.

Lost Tooth (or two!)

Here is Adam, so happy to have finally lost some teeth! He pulled out the first one about two weeks earlier, when I noticed the adult tooth had already come through behind it. He worked and worked on it for about 45 minutes, until he pulled it out. When asked if he was excited to get money for it, his response "Oh no, I don't want to sell my tooth to the tooth fairy, I want to keep it!" I love that he sees it as a business transaction more than a magical event.

He pulled the second one while he was at school--I had been bugging him for days to pull it (the adult tooth had come through as well). Now he has a holey mouth, but not for long!
